Regular Town Board Meeting
May 11, 2010

Sue Ann Bruce called the meeting to order.  The Pledge of Allegiance
was recited.  Roll call was taken and all Board Members were present: 
Sue Ann Bruce – Chairperson, Scott Khalar – Supervisor, Mike Trenda –
Supervisor, Nora Anne Moss – Clerk, and Rose Graves – Treasurer.

Don Kronberg inquired about the town’s road plan.

The Clerk verified that the meeting was published and posted.

Sue Ann Bruce requested the minutes be clarified to include what she
had submitted for the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for
the Northwest Regional Planning Commission.  S. Khalar made a motion
to accept the minutes from the previous board meeting and the road
inspection held on April 26th as written with the above corrections. 
M. Trenda seconded the motion and motion carried.

Tom Stewart was in attendance, no report at this time.

Correspondence was reviewed.  S. Bruce stated that she had received a
thank you note from the Humane Society for the donation and a thank
you from the Kelsey family for increasing Jim’s hours at the recycling
center and a commendation to Jim for a job well done.

The Proposed Town Road Access Ordinance was discussed.  S. Bruce
stated she and Will Kiefer would continue to review this as well as
the current permit process to hopefully streamline this process and
not prolong it.  She also stated that the building inspector does not
inspect driveways. 
 
M. Trenda made a motion to appoint Ron Cairns as Chairperson of the
Veteran’s Memorial Committee and for George Kornstad and Marvin
Landreth to serve on the committee as well.  S. Khalar seconded the
motion and motion carried.

S. Khalar made a motion to appoint Ron Cairns as Fire Chief for a two
year term as recommended by a vote of the fire department members.  M.
Trenda seconded the motion and motion carried.

 S. Bruce stated she had to make slight changes to the application for
the TRIP funds to be used on Minnesuing Road due to the high price of
hot mix and also to correct the ending point of the mile.  We will be
requesting cold mix.  It will cost approximately $80,000.  The TRIP
fund amount is $28,573.81.  There is $16,529.00 set aside for this
project as well.  S. Khalar made a motion to advertise for bids for
the TRIP funded road work on Minnesuing Road.  M. Trenda seconded the
motion and motion carried.  S. Bruce will provide a notice to the
clerk for publishing in the Superior Telegram once each week for two
weeks.  Bids will be due at the June Board Meeting

S. Bruce stated that she had given board members information from the
Douglas County Zoning office and she urged them to review it.

M. Trenda made a motion to approve Georgia Granfor’s Liquor License. 
S. Khalar seconded the motion and motion carried.

S. Bruce stated that the state was requiring all road signs to be
reflective and she thought all road signs had to be replaced by 2013. 
The town highway workers will be asked to begin reviewing the signs in
town and creating a list of what needs to be replaced.  She felt that
we should begin replacing them to avoid having a large expense in
2013.

S. Bruce signed the Noxious Weeds notice.  This will be posted on the
boards.

S. Khalar gave the Equipment and Roads Report.  The road crew will be
grader patching some of the roads to extend the life of the roads. 
There was nothing to report for the Grounds, Building and Recycling. 
There were no calls for the Constable.  Will Kiefer gave the Cemetery
Report of 1 burial.  The disc trenching has been completed.  He would
like to thank Doreen and Larry Schaller for help with the tree
planting and tree limb removal.  There was no activity with the Plan
Commission.  We are still waiting for the final copies of the
Comprehensive Plan.

Ron Cairns gave the Fire Department Report.  M. Trenda made a motion
to amend the Fire Department By-Laws to include “The Fire Chief shall
be allowed to have lights and sirens on his/her personal vehicle
provided he/she has provided proof of insurance.”  S. Khalar seconded
the motion and motion carried.   S. Bruce will prepare a finalized
copy of the of the By-laws to give to the Board Members by the next
meeting for their review.  The copy of the By-Laws will be signed at
that time.
S. Khalar made a motion to approve the fire department’s disbursement
requests as submitted.  M. Trenda seconded the motion and motion
carried.  Marvin Landreth gave an update on the planning of the
FireWise Fun Day to be held June 12th at the hall.  
S. Khalar made a motion to approve the disbursement requests.  M.
Trenda seconded the motion and motion carried.  

M. Trenda made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read.  S.
Khalar seconded the motion and motion carried. 
	Beginning Balance:	$158,029.87
	Total Receipts:		$  21,337.77
	Total Disbursements:	$  30,613.74
	Ending Balance:		$148,753.90

Don Kronberg asked if the noxious weeds notice could be published in
the Northwoods Shopper.  Will Kiefer stated that the Memorial Day
Service will be held Monday, May 31st at 11:00 at the cemetery. 
Bernie Human asked if the intersections could be cleaned of sand and
gravel.  This will be dealt with as quickly as possible.

Open Book and Board of Review are scheduled for Wednesday, May 12,
2010.  The next Regular Town Board Meeting will be held Tuesday, June
8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

M. Trenda made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  S. Khalar seconded
the motion and motion carried.  Meeting was adjourned.
